Geotechnical Engineering Services

Laboratory Testing Services

  • Routine soil and rock testing (Atterberg limits, gradation, Proctor, pH, resistivity)
  • Strength and durability tests: triaxial, direct shear, unconfined compression, slake durability
  • Swelling, consolidation, permeability, resilient modulus, and elastic modulus testing
  • CBR, sand equivalency, pinhole erosion, and asphalt extraction and gradation

Drilling Capabilities

  • Test hole drilling (3¼” to 8¼” hollow stem, 4½” & 6″ solid stem, mud rotary)
  • Shelby tube sampling, split spoon SPT, Texas cone penetrometer
  • Drilling/sampling to 140 feet depth
  • Installation of monitoring, observation, recovery wells, piezometers, inclinometers, and settlement plates
  • Intact bedrock and pavement coring

In-Situ Geotechnical Testing

  • Pressure meter, Dutch cone, Marchetti and rock dilatometer testing
  • Vane shear, borehole shear, soil resistivity, vibration measurement
  • Settlement monitoring and seismic refraction
  • Falling weight deflectometer (FWD) and ground penetrating radar (GPR)

HydroVac Potholes Services

  • Visual potholing to locate underground utilities
  • Water excavation and vacuum cleaning
  • Fast, safe, and cost-effective utility potholing
